Benefits of Interactive documents

There are a number of advantages to having your Annual Reports or other documents in an electronic format.

Interactivity

Once in electronic format documents can be made interactive. At a basic level this means that your readers can navigate around the document as you would navigate a website, jumping directly to the content of interest instead of leafing through pages. Documents can also be searchable - allowing readers to enter keywords of interest and be presented with a list of links to relevant pages. Some formats also allow diagrams to be made interactive. Cost of production

Another key benefit of electronic documents is that there dramatically reduce the cost of production. This is largely because they remove the need for printing large multi-page, glossy, bound booklets. Commonly in Australia cost per unit start at around $15, and this is before delivery costs are added. We can compare this to email - effectively free and CD production which starts from around $2 per CD.

Cost of distribution

Delivery costs are also dramatically reduced. Emailing your document (or a link to it) is very low cost indeed (and in some cases no cost). Whilst posting a CD can be as little as the cost of a stamp and small envelope. So sending costs are either reduced or on some cases eliminated.

Reader Convenience

Once in digital format readers can access and store the information efficiently and at their own convenience. electronic documents can be saved onto computers, accessed over the Internet day or night, or safely and permanently filed on CD or DVD.
